DRIV hydrogen tank at the Kløfta facility
Enabling hydrogen across the Nordics

DRIV HYDROGEN — warm flushing and first fill of hydrogen tanks at Kløfta

About the company

Newly produced hydrogen tanks cannot enter the market until they have been flushed of nitrogen and correctly filled with hydrogen. This is our job. At our hydrogen facility at Kløfta, Norway, we warm-flush MEGCs as the only emission-free operator in the Nordics. Everything we deliver is standardised, automated and documented, so that predictability, time-to-market, cost and quality are optimised. This makes it the gold standard DRIV standard.

Services

Our daily operations

Three specialised services, delivered as one standardised product.

Let's talk
Service 01

Warm flushing & first fill

01
Your tank arrives at Kløfta, factory-filled with nitrogen.
02
Warm flushing with heated hydrogen in controlled cycles — using 90 % less hydrogen than cold flushing.
03
First fill, with a certificate of analysis: < 300 ppm total impurities.

Service 02

Biohydrogen production

01
Certified biomethanol arrives at our Kløfta facility.
02
Steam reforming at 83 % efficiency — 240 kg of biohydrogen a day.
03
Filling and delivery — saving 14 261 kg of CO₂e per container.

Service 03

Gas analysis

01
We take a gas sample from your tank or process line — at Kløfta or at your site.
02
The gas chromatograph separates the mixture and pinpoints every component — down to ppm level.
03
An analysis report with documented purity — the same method that verifies < 300 ppm after flushing.

Over eight pressure cycles, the nitrogen content in the tank drops from 495 700 ppm to just 178 ppm. Purity climbs from 50.43 % to 99.982 % — comfortably below the 300 ppm requirement.

FAQ

Your questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about working with us. Still not sure? Get in touch — we'll sort it out in a quick call.

New Type IV tanks arrive filled with pressurised nitrogen, and the polymer liner can be permanently damaged if that pressure is released while the tank is cold. So we condition the tank warm before flushing out the nitrogen with hydrogen in controlled cycles — emission-free, and using 90 % less hydrogen than the traditional method.

The process is standardised and predictable: 20 and 30 ft containers take 4 working days, 40 and 45 ft take 5. We confirm the schedule for every delivery as soon as your enquiry comes in.

A certificate of analysis for every fill, documenting impurities below 300 ppm — plus certificates, ADR transport documents, safety data sheets and agreements, all in one place on My Page.

Pricing depends on volume, container type and delivery scope. Send us an enquiry describing what you need, and we’ll come back with a concrete offer — usually within one working day.

We produce it ourselves — steam reforming certified biomethanol at Kløfta: 240 kg a day, at 83 % efficiency.
